Women Cell

The College has established a Women Cell in the college campus for the women faculty, staff and girl students, to enhance understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for them. With an aim of creating awareness of their rights and duties the cell organizes and participates in seminars, talks and also takes up women’s issues and problems. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to improve and empower themselves. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes life skill training programmes, entrepreneur training and other welfare activities.


  • These are to serve the Women faculty and students of college.
  • To enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of women students, faculty and staff in the college.
  • To promote intellectual and cultural activities for overall personality development of student.
  • To develop critical thinking ability of women students such that it enhances decision-making ability.
  • To enable women to make informed choices in areas like education, employment and health especially reproductive health.
  • To enhance their participation on an equal footing in all areas


In the academic year 2018-19 women cell of Mount Carmel college has managed to give a sense of women empowerment to all the girls in the college. Committee members were selected from each class on behalf of women cell. On 22nd January the official launching of the logo and promo video of women cell of Mount Carmel College took place. An awareness class on The contemporary Women: Self defence in public and dexterous in domestic was conducted on 25th January 2019 by Rev sr. Adv. Josia S D .The programme began with an invocation.Greena Sunny the President of the Women cell presided the function. In the meeting our Manager and Academic chair Rev.Dr. Robert Thomas puthussery, Principal prof K.P Paul, Vice principal Rev Dr. Binu Kakkanattu and the former coordinator of women cell Mrs. Shiny George felicitated. Around 400 students attended the class and were benefitted from it. It was a very interactive session. The success of the women cell is due to the hard work and perseverance of each and every member of the cell. The programme came to a close by 4.15 pm with a vote of thanks by the committee member, Josna John.
