The College Band performed to a very appreciative audience at the assembly on Friday the 7th of September. In the first year of the College Band after a few years off, the improvement and ensemble spirit amongst the group has been fantastic, and is improving all the time. Here is their performance of the theme from Mission Impossible.

On Friday 17th August Mount Carmel College celebrated the 160th anniversary of the arrival in Tasmania of the Sisters of Charity with a whole-school assembly. It was a morning of fantastic performances from a variety of students. Here are the recordings of…
- The year 9/10 Music class performing a spirited (after the singers finally entered!) version of La Bamba.
- A primary school choir showing their star quality with a rendition of Marvellous Things.
- The year 10 Drama students recreation of a 19th century Music Hall.
- Kate Richardson’s moving version of an Irish medley.
- The Chamber Choir singing Panis Angelicus, one of the Sisters’ favourite melodies!
Enjoy!

The year 7’s spent the last part of Term 1 creating soundscapes based on some famous prints, courtesy of Mrs Buddle in the art room. They were asked to organise various sound sources into sections to compose a piece of music that created a ’sound version’ of their painting. Once completed, the students performed their soundscape from behind a screen with their audience only able to see the image being represented. Click on one of the pictures to hear the sonic interpretations as created by the students.
Tip: To see the painting that inspired a particular soundscape as it plays, click back to this window after you press play…
