Arts club of Mount Carmel College provides an opportunity to the students to let their imagination run wild and provides them with the sight to see things in a different way. Students learn from one another and share their prowess in different aspects of art. The Arts Club caters to the needs of those students who have an aptitude for music, dance or other fine arts. Students are encouraged to participate in inter collegiate and other competition through fine arts.
Develop and demonstrate skills in critical and analytical thinking through effective speaking, writing and performing on topics in the fine arts. Create, perform and experience work in a variety of art forms with a high level of comprehension and appreciation. Thus to bring the latent talents of the students to limelight
This club has great mission-to produce finest dancers from our college. It caters to to the nourishment of the dance skills of students in the every forms of the dance both eastern and western. The members of this club are keen on showing their talents whenever there is a occasion. They are in charge of performing Ramgapooja on ceremonies and different functions happening in the college. They conduct regular meetings and practice so that they are aspiring to become masters in their art. In 14 Feb 2019, Dance club screened a Cover dance, filmed with much enthusiasm and rigorous practice, featuring the members of the club.
Music club is very active in our college. It equips the singers and music enthusiasts with enough opportunities for the rejuvenation of their talents. The members meet on a regular basis. Whenever there is an occasion for showcasing their proficiency in singing or musical instruments, they make optimum use of it by performing either as individually or as a group. The members of the music club performed a chain song in the function of College Union Inauguration. It was such an organized event that they were appreciated immensely for their musical talents.
Arts Club of our college nourishes the artistic and creative side of students. It serves as the parent club to various clubs including Film Club and Literary Forum, dance Club, Music Club and drawing club.
Students interested in joining various clubs were auditioned and membership cards were distributed.
College Arts day was conducted in a colourful manner. Various events were held as on stage and off stage programs. Department of Psychology emerged as the champions.
Film Club and Literary Forum was launched in the 2018-19 academic year. This club aims at offering a platform for gathering to the literature enthusiasts and film buffs of our college. The informal meetings of such people in the past began to have a official stamp with the club being inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Robert Thomas Puthussery, manager and academic chair, in a function presided by Prof. K.P Paul, the principal. The inaugural function also celebrated the reading week in memory of P.N Panickar, the father of library movement in Kerala. Rev. Dr.Fr. Binu George Kakkanattu, vice principal, and Rev. Fr. Regi Pullan, Bursar and finance administrator also addressed the gathering.
2.)Reading Competition/Book review contest
The first program conducted as part of the club was a reading competition for the students of our college. This was part of the reading week celebrations in the college. Students were asked to read a book in advance to write an appreciation on it on the proposed date. The winners were gifted books instead of trophies so that the program was devoted to its core ideal.
3.) Disparo 2K19
The second activity conducted was Disparo 2k18, a literary fest for school students ranging from 9th to 12th standard. Three competitions were held as part of the program- Extempore, Essay Writing and Literary Quiz. The program was formally inaugurated by Prof. K.P Paul, at a function in which Rev. Dr. Fr. Binu George Kakkanattu and Rev. Fr. Regi Pullan addressed everyone gathered.
4.) Weekly Meetings- Reviews of Films and Books
The club maintains its vibrancy with weekly meetings which prompt its members to devote themselves to the analysis of literary works and films. Such regular meetings promote the literary taste and critical abilities of the members.
